And the Rhino Takes a Commanding Lead

The Rhinocerous has taken a significant lead in the "who Wins the Fight" poll and I think rightly so. The Rhino is strong, quick, and has the dreaded spear tuft at the end of his snout. I do not think the King Cobra's fangs could pierce his armor-like skin. The Rhino is more fast-footed than the hippo and elephant and unless the bear or lion were smart enough get on top and attempt to harm him under his neck I think they are too small.
Facts:
10 feet long, 5 feet high
3-5,000 pounds
Skin 1 cm thick
Rhino is greek for nose

Would the poll change if you had a Tiger (or even a Liger) on the list instead of a Lion?

I'm sure someone can tell us. I sure don't know. My uneducated money is still on the Rhino.

I think there used to be a show on the Discovery channel that tried to prove why certain animals would beat other animals, by analyzing size, tenacity, viciousness, etc.

The thick skin would definitely help the rhino, but tigers are much bigger than lions and might provide a tougher fight. But, lions have taken down elephants before so that may not be enough of a barrier.

I have heard of the show and have never seen it. I can't imagine a Tiger taking on a Rhino but maybe I'm wrong. Like I said before, a surprise attack from the top away from the horn but into the neck area might do it. I will say this, when the Rhino is standing there in the wide open plains he looks none too worried -- about anything.
